Ten man Bromley battled hard, but eventually failed to match second placed Welling in this local derby at Park View Road on Tuesday night.
The game started with both sides looking positive, Joe Healy sent in a deep cross which Joe Welch tipped over.
Then on 11 minutes the game major incident occurred when Moses Swaibu was judged to have handled in the box and not only did the Referee award a penalty, he sent off the influential defender. Healy tucked away the spot kick to make it 1-0.
Bromley competed for a spell, before they chose to replace the impressive Aaron Rhule with defender Rob Gillman. The Ravens then sat back and invited pressure on with Lafayette and Williams going close, while the visitors only chance feel to Louie Theophanous who crashed his shot wide after good work by Sanchez Ming.
The second half took a while to get going, Scott Kinch was denied by Joe Welch and Pierre Joseph-Dubois had an effort saved by.
Then with the game in the balance, the Bromley defence were caught napping and Lafayette ran through unmarked to beat Welch with a cool finish for 2-0 on 67 minutes.
The Ravens clawed one back on 76 minutes when Ali Fuseini sent in a deep cross which caught Mott out and dropped in under the bar for 2-1.
Welling had a good late spell with Jon Main & Theo Fairweather-Johnson going close before Fairweather-Johnson pounced on some poor defending and made it 3-1 in injury time.
Just before the whistle Danny Waldren had a header saved, but The Ravens were beaten despite a spirited effort.
